About the airport
Makhachkala International Airport named after twice Hero of the Soviet Union Amet-khan Sultan is a federal international airport of the city of Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan; the main airport of the republic. In Kumyk, Uytash means Stone House.
The airport is located in the Karabudakhkentsky District, 4.5 km from the city of Kaspiysk and 16.2 km from the nearest district of Makhachkala.
Uytash Airport is a first-class airport, used not only for civil aviation but also by the aircraft of the Federal Security Service of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Until December 2011, the airline Dagestan Airlines was based at the airport. Currently, the airline RusLine is based at the airport, operating flights to many destinations in Russia and abroad.
