About the airport

Astrakhan Boris M. Kustodiev International Airport is a federal airport located on the southern outskirts of the city of Astrakhan, 8 km south of the city centre. The official name of the airport is "Astrakhan".

Four airlines operate regular daily flights to Moscow: Rossiya, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines and Pobeda. There are also international flights to Aktau, Osh and Baku. The number of flights from the airport has decreased more than tenfold since the collapse of the USSR.

The aerodrome is class B and can accommodate aircraft such as the An-12, An-24, An-28, An-72, An-74, An-124, An-148, An-225, Boeing 737—300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800 and their variants, B-747 and variants, B-757, B-767 and variants, A-310, A-319-100, A-320 and variants, A-321 and variants, DC-8, MD-11, ATR-42 and variants, CRJ-100/200, SAAB-2000 and variants, SAAB-340 and variants, EMB-120 and variants, Sukhoi Superjet 100, Il-18, Il-114, Il-76, Il-96-400, Tu-134, Tu-154, Tu-204, Yak-40, Yak-42 and other aircraft of classes III and IV, as well as helicopters of all types.

The maximum take-off weight of an aircraft is 191 tonnes. The runway classification number is 63/F/C/X/T. The aerodrome equipment allows aircraft to land under ICAO category I meteorological minima.

16 km northwest of the Astrakhan aerodrome is the military airfield Privolzhsky, which was the main airport of Astrakhan from 1963 to 1979. To the south-east of the city of Astrakhan there are two sports aerodromes: Osypnoy Bugor and Tri Protoka.
