About the airport
Simferopol Airport is the international airport of the city of Simferopol in Crimea. The old, now inactive terminal was located 12 km northwest of the city centre, in the settlement of Aeroflotsky. The new terminal, operational since 16 April 2018, is situated a further 2.5 km northwest, in the settlement of Ukromnoye.
Since March 2014, the airport has served only Russian flights. Official international flights are not operated, due to sanctions imposed following the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. The airport is named Simferopol International Airport named after I. K. Aivazovsky.
In 2020, it became the leader in the ranking of the most beautiful airports in Russia.
At the end of 2020, it was named the winner of the national civil aviation infrastructure award "Air Gates of Russia" as "Best Airport – Meeting the Challenges of 2020".
Near Simferopol there is also the local air lines airport Zavodskoe, as well as the naval aviation airbase Gvardeiskoye.
The General Director is Evgeny Vasilyevich Plaksin.
