About the airport
Strigino Airport named after V. P. Chkalov is an international airport of federal significance with a B-1 class aerodrome, serving Nizhny Novgorod and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It is located in the western part of the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, 18 km southwest of the city centre. It is a joint-use aerodrome — in addition to civil aviation, it is home to the 675th Special Purpose Aviation Regiment of the National Guard Troops Aviation.
The airport is operated by JSC Nizhny Novgorod International Airport, part of the Airports of Regions holding, a subsidiary of the Renova Group.
In 2014, the airport's passenger traffic amounted to about 1.13 million passengers.
