About the airport

Polyarny is the airport of the town of Udachny in Yakutia. It is located 9 km from the town. The first passenger flight of an Il-14 aircraft took place on 15 July 1975. This date is considered the founding of the airport.

It serves a number of regional flights, as well as direct domestic flights to Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Moscow. It is a diversion airport on transcontinental routes from North America to Asia, operated in accordance with the international ETOPS standard.

In emergency situations, the airport can accommodate Airbus A300, Airbus A310, Airbus A330, Boeing 757, Boeing 767, Boeing 777. The runway also received the largest aircraft, the An-225, in 1990. The aerodrome is equipped with the OVI light signalling system.
