About the airport
Podkamennaya Tunguska is an airport located 3 km from the confluence of the Podkamennaya Tunguska River with the Yenisei River, situated in the centre of the settlement of Bor in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
It was built in 1946. It gained particular importance with the opening of the international air route Moscow – Tokyo in 1968. In mid-1985, it handled 60-65 aircraft per day. During the deterioration of Soviet-Chinese relations in the early 1970s, fighter jets were based at the airport; in the 1980s, the Bor Aviation Squadron was established.
The Podkamennaya Tunguska airfield is capable of accommodating An-24, An-26, An-32, An-74, Yak-40 aircraft and smaller classes, as well as helicopters of all types.
