About the airport
Tiksi is an airport in Yakutia, located in the Bulunsky District 7 km north of the settlement of Tiksi. The aerodrome is home to the Yakut Republican Enterprise "Polar Airlines JSC", as well as the state aviation of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the FSB of the Russian Federation.
Since 16 April 2013, by order of the commander of long-range aviation, Lieutenant General Anatoly Zhikharev, the Tiksi aerodrome has been open for arrivals and departures of state aviation aircraft Il-18, An-12, An-26 and lighter, as well as helicopters of all types. An aviation commandant's office has been established at the aerodrome. To ensure the resumption of arrivals and departures of civil aviation aircraft at Tiksi aerodrome, specialists from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "State Corporation for Air Traffic Management" are installing and certifying the necessary equipment delivered to the aerodrome in August 2012.
