Egypt Air is the flag carrier airline of Egypt and a member of Star Alliance. The airline's main hub is Cairo International Airport. Egypt Air is wholly owned by the Egyptian government and operates scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 70 airports in Europe, Africa, the Middle and Far East, the USA and Canada, as well as maintaining a strong presence in the domestic air transport market.
Egypt Air is the second largest airline in Africa. The airline joined Star Alliance on 11 July 2008, becoming the first member of the alliance from the Middle East.
The airline's emblem features Horus, the sky god in Egyptian mythology, who is usually depicted as a falcon or a man with the head of a falcon. In mythology, Horus is also a winged sun god.
